The elves considered the discovery of a part of Bijou to be a blessing from God. The woods spontaneously started to grow and crops were suddenly abundant.
Bijou's land became beautiful and colourful once more, a blessed and shining land. However, the divine celebrations were ruined by the gods. The gods, blinded with fear, once again joined forces. Unlike Legel and Bijou, they could not simply create - they had to use their blood and souls to create evil monsters.
These dark creatures were sent to the surface and used dark power against Bijou's remains - they began destroying the continent, digging underground and draining lakes.
The once beautiful continent of Isya was being destroyed by foolishness and greediness of the gods. Anarchy reigned, as countless creatures fell prey to the monsters.
The elves, led by Elderine, worked out who sent these monsters, and decided that they couldn't just stand and watch their home be destroyed.
Disgusted by the slaughter of defenceless animals and the destruction of ancient forests, Elderine felt they had no other choice: War against the gods.
The elves were a peace-loving folk, they had never before compromised their pascifism and were utterly unprepared for the reality of battle. Many elves had no magical or combat skills and some did not want to fight. Jenira, the chief of one of the forests, refused to send her elves into battle.
"Jenira! Just how long do you think you can hide?", said Elderine.
"Don't be a fool Elderine! What can we possibly do? How on earth are we going to defeat monsters created by gods? This is blasphemy! Stop your stupidity!" replied Jenira.
Elderine was incensed - with an eloquence never before heard in the forest she shouted back:
"The gods do not realise the foolishness of their actions! Are you just going to stand by and watch!? Do you know how many forests are being burnt down each day?! How many animals are losing their lives? Can't you hear trees screaming, trees that were planted hundreds and thousands before us and should live thousands of years beyond us?!"
Elderine's loud voice echoed around the deep woods. Elves everywhere felt ashamed, some were on the verge of tears.
They realised that it was their responsibility to protect the forest…
At that very moment, somebody shouted:
"We are not afraid!"
"We are strong!"
"Elves will not abandon the woods!"
"We will protect them!"
The elves' great cry could even be heard from the sky above. Elderine smiled with pleasure watching as she saw the humiliated look on Jenira's face.
Heartened by Elderine's leadership, the battle was victorious. The monsters were massively outnumbered, and despite their inexperience used their intelligence and agility to defeat these agents of doom.
However the initial joy of victory was quickly overshadowed. More and more monsters appeared, wearing Elderine and her army down. Nevertheless, they stood tall.
The gods needed a new way to defeat the elves. They decided to try and defeat them from within…
Epith, Elderine's brother had always had a taste for power, he was the perfect target.
He was seduced by Pagels, the god of greed and committed the most terrible of sins: betrayal. He attacked his fellow elves in an attempt to take control of the army.
Elderine was devastated, and decided to leave on a long journey with those still loyal. They escaped, far away from the elves' wood.
